I had a really good experience at Forty Two Bar & Kitchen in Moscow! The barbecue was excellent — tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. You can tell they put effort into their cooking and use quality ingredients. I tried a couple of different meats, and everything came out hot and well-seasoned. The sides complemented the meal perfectly. The environment is also great — relaxed, comfortable, and clean, with a friendly neighborhood vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy your food, and feel at home. The staff were kind, attentive, and made sure I had everything I needed without being overbearing. Overall, this spot is a real gem for good food and a laid-back atmosphere. Highly recommend it whether you’re local or just passing through Moscow!

Loved the atmosphere of this place. Food was delicious, servers were friendly and welcoming. We had a very large group for a youth hockey team and they were more than accommodating. Highly recommend!

Food was super yummy, but a Cesar salad with chicken was $18 and it was a little expensive in my opinion. It wasn’t very busy and there was no direction on how to order or if we needed to sit ourselves. The shuffleboard was fun!

This has become such a vital part of the Moscow and Palouse communities since it became Forty Two under the new owners! All are truly welcome and the menu, from a healthy salad to the stellar BBQ (!!!) to just the simple comfort of good ‘ol bar food creates a true hub for folks. The best part, despite great food and drink options, is probably how Forty Two makes everyone feel like a local where you can just be yourself and see your neighbor. This place is a gem.

This has become one of our favorite restaurants in the Moscow, Pullman, Lewiston, Clarkston area. It is just a warm, comfortable friendly place to go to. Personally, I can’t get past the smoked chicken wings. Their rub is so delicious and their homemade sauces totally yummy. My favorite Is their homemade sweet mustard sauce. My husband has really enjoyed the smoked Bologna sandwich, tater kegs, Sliders, French fries and baked beans. We are looking forward to trying more of their smoked meat choices. This is definitely a place worthy of checking out!

If I needed to invent the perfect restaurant, a bbq joint that's hitchhikers guide themed wouldn't be a bad idea. Everything here is delicious, the owners and staff are really nice, and trivia / fundraiser nights are always a great time. Highly recommended food: 1. Smoked chicken wings with the sweet Houston mustard glaze. Sweet, crispy, smokey, delicious. 2. The brisket sandwich. It's a generous portion of shredded brisket with pickles on the side. 3. The Mac and cheese is served hot and loaded with black pepper.

We stopped in to grab a drink and an app, and I was blown away. Best dark and stormy I’ve ever had, my mom had a gin cocktail and my dad had an old fashioned and said it was unreal. I HIGHLY recommend this place and the service was great. Will have to come back to try the bbq!!

Forty Two Bar & Grill is a really solid addition to the south side of Moscow and one of those places that ends up being much bigger inside than you expect from the outside. It sits where the old Chinese restaurant used to be and is tucked slightly off the road sharing the parking lot, so it’s actually pretty easy to drive past if you’re not paying attention. Once you walk in though, the place opens up quite a bit. There’s an elevated dining area, a lower bar section immediately off to the right, then additional seating farther back along with pool tables, electronic darts, TVs, and a pretty lively sports-bar atmosphere overall. Apparently the owners are Vandals alumni, and from what I’ve heard this place gets seriously active during University of Idaho game days. Even during our visit you could tell it had that strong local college-town energy. The staff was super friendly, and the food was excellent. I had both the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket, and we ended up buying some barbecue sauce afterward because it was honestly really good. Strong flavor without being overloaded with sugar like a lot of BBQ sauces tend to be. As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series, I tend to notice restaurants that feel connected to the personality of a town instead of feeling manufactured, and Forty Two definitely feels tied into the Moscow and Vandals community. Funny enough, casual restaurants with layered seating areas and game-day atmosphere like this probably influence scenes in both the thrillers and the Paris Nights Romance Series more than I consciously notice at the time. Easy place to settle in for a while, especially if there’s a game on.
